EMG/NCS Testing
EMG/NCS Testing is a valuable diagnostic tool used to evaluate nerve and muscle function and help identify the source of pain, weakness, numbness, tingling, or other neurological symptoms. At Vantage Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, our experienced providers perform Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) to assist physicians in diagnosing a wide range of neuromuscular conditions and developing effective treatment plans.
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) measure how quickly and effectively electrical signals travel through the nerves. Electromyography (EMG) evaluates the electrical activity within muscles both at rest and during movement. Together, these tests provide detailed information about the communication between nerves and muscles and can help detect abnormalities that may not appear on imaging studies alone.
EMG/NCS Testing may be recommended to diagnose or evaluate conditions including:
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Pinched nerves or radiculopathy
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Muscle disorders and weakness
- Sciatica
- Numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
- Herniated discs
- Neuromuscular disorders
Our team is committed to providing a comfortable, professional testing experience while delivering accurate results to referring physicians in a timely manner. Following testing, results are reviewed and shared with your physician to help guide the next steps in your care and treatment.
